Since I started Style It in October of 2006, the site’s content has changed as I’ve grown. It’s been a strange experience looking over posts from the past nine years. Not only has my content changed, but changes in my taste, focus, politics, and priorities have been reflected in my posts. I’ve been privileged to meet so many of you throughout the years and honored that many of those relationships have blossomed into friendships. One such friendship inspired this year’s survey: my friend Allie from Wardrobe Oxygen.
I’ve always admired her consistent blogging, relationship with her readers, and her honesty. Not only did she recently ask her readers to take a survey, but she published the results along with key learnings and upcoming site changes. Seeing how the survey has impacted the direction of her blog and deepened her relationship to those that read her content, I’ve been inspired to do the same. Please take a few moments to fill out this 2016 reader survey. Answers are recorded anonymously and you will not be asked to share any personal information.
In the past nine years, the content I’ve written has been very self-serving. I haven’t given much consideration to what you might need from me. Instead, I hoped that you were here for my point of view, my taste, and the access I’d worked so hard to achieve. As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized that while all of those things may be true, many of you are looking for more. In short, please help me help you! Taking another page from Allie’s already spectacular example, I’d love to publish the results as part of a discussion about content, blogging, and how we can all grow together.
Thank you, in advance, for your time. I appreciate it so much!
