It’s no secret how much I love Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks, so I’m always eager to try new products in the Stay All Day range. But liquid brow products? My experience with anything other than a brow pencil has always been hit & miss. Plus, “stay all day” and “waterproof” aren’t words I necessarily want associated with my messy brow application. Instagram brows will never be my specialty.
One adventurous morning, I decided to grab the two Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Colors that matched me the best: Auburn and Medium Warm. I expected these to be highly pigmented “markers” like so many of the other liquid brow products I’ve tried, but that wasn’t the case. The brush tip reminds me a lot of Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner. Swatching it on my hand creates transparent, soft lines and on the brows the effect is much the same.
When I started wearing these, I was having incredibly busy days running in & out of client offices. I didn’t have a lot of time in the morning, so these were always the first thing I reached for. It wasn’t until a photoshoot that I realized how comfortable I’d become with a softer brow. I also tried them during a trip to the pool this weekend. Although they had some longevity after a few hours in the water, the effect had faded a bit. I also love using this in combination with my beloved Glossier Boy Brow.
Since it’s a transparent product, the result isn’t as precise as a pencil or pomade, but still defining. This is also a great option for the gym, early mornings, flights, and low-maintenance weekend looks. Like other liquid products, my main critique is that it can be difficult to keep the brush tip clean if you’re using it over foundation. I also recommend storing them upside down alongside your felt tip liners.
Final verdict: the Stay All Day Waterproof Brow Colors ($21) are great for an effortless brow, but especially sparse areas (like those with a scar) might need the assistance of a brow pencil. These are great for summer days, the gym, and low-maintenance days. Thumbs up!
