I haven’t had many facials in my life. It’s not that I don’t need them, but like so many of you, it’s about the investment. Getting a facial feels like yet another thing I have to work into my already busy schedule, in addition to paying what often feels like outrageous prices. Why can’t I just slap on a mask at home and call it a day?
I had a chance to visit Heyday before they officially opened last summer and I’ve been keeping a close eye on them ever since. Since my visit they’ve launched a membership program that discounts everything from monthly services to products & add-ons. The concept that you should be able to book a facial with the convenience of a blowout and the regularity of medical services is simple, yet revolutionary. After all, a facial is about more than aesthetics. Regular facials (in addition to regular visits to a dermatologist) are a great way to make lasting, positive changes in your skin. I feel like I’m on a facial soapbox, but they can genuinely be impactful.
The Heyday treatment environment is everything that spas have been missing. Friendly, gender neutral, and modern with a touch of downtown cool. My facialist was knowledgeable, chill, and confident throughout the experience, all qualities I look for during any treatment. She made excellent product recommendations and the best part? Painless extractions. My treatment was topped off with a healthy dose of SPF, naturally.
Although I packed a full face of makeup in my bag that day, I left Heyday makeup free and I stayed that way for the rest of the day. PCOS side effects haven’t been kind to my skin, but I felt confident enough to let it show. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it’s a welcome surprise.
As for now, Heyday is only available in NYC, but more locations/global expansion/in-flight facials can’t be far behind. Can you imagine?
