Plus Size Stripes

Although this look isn’t much more than hoop earrings, a statement dress, and Birkenstocks, for me it represents so much more. This was the first day I really started to feel like myself again after the chaos of this year. Although I am still recovering in many ways, I’m also incredibly stubborn and determined to get on with my life. Speaking of which, let’s talk about these stripes!

I fell in love with this ELOQUII dress for so many reasons. I love that it flirts with the off-the-shoulder trend without requiring a strapless bra, but it also reminds me of the Fruit Stripe gum zebra (in the best way). The off-the-shoulder trend can easily veer into peasant top territory and it seems like every girl in NYC has a white or chambray version. That’s not my style.

Among other considerations, I also love the proximity of the pink, berry, orange, and yellow stripes. It reminds me of a fiery sunset and because of the unexpected color combination, I thought I might get away wearing it into September as a fading nod to summer. I spend far more time than I should thinking about my transitional wardrobe. Plus, I relish any opportunity to defy antiquated style rules.

    I love this on you!
I look at Eloquii’s site frequently. Still having difficulty with the brand. Some things I LOVE (they made a pair of jeans I adore, but the zipper broke and they don’t expect to restock the style… grrr). But so much of it seems so out there and wacky for me. Not that it doesn’t look fabulous on other people.

This is an overweight and short problem for me I think. 🙂 But I love the looks on you!
