Leather weather is back!! I say this often, but leather weather is my favorite kind of weather. Leather jackets are amazing and add an instant ‘cool factor’ to anyone who wears them, but other leather pieces? I’ve always hesitated because I couldn’t imagine them being particularly flattering to someone who carries most of their weight in their midsection. On a whim, I tried these faux leather front skinny pants from Lane Bryant, and you know what? They’re incredibly flattering.
It doesn’t hurt that they are generously cut and outside of the faux leather, they are made from a super stretchy cotton and spandex blend. I’m not a huge fan of how shiny they are, though they do photograph more shiny than they appear in person. Next on my list is a leather pencil skirt and a leather tee.
Have you picked up any leather pieces this season? Secrets don’t make friends.

Because of my high school basketball days, every time I try to wear this shirt, all I can see are flashes of referees on the sidelines blowing a whistle at me. All that aside, I love how bold black and white stripes look in almost every form, even if they do tend to also feel a little Bettlejuice. Whenever I don’t know what to wear, I always fall back on my black pleated skirt. It’s so effortless and fun, not to mention versatile, that I just can’t stop reaching for it. It was one of the best purchases that I’ve ever made.

Part of my biggest style challenge isn’t finding clothes that fit – yes, I’m a size 28 and 6’2″ tall (true story) – it’s finding pieces that I like. Sure, that statement can apply to people of all ages, sizes and lifestyles, but I don’t think that I should have to search for two seasons to find the item that I love. Does anyone else have this problem?
My style savior came from Domino Dollhouse’s Urban Mermaids collection. Honestly, I went a little crazy but I controlled myself and bought the two pieces that I’ve been searching for since what feels like 2006. This striped full skirt became an instant classic (remember Carrie getting off the plane in Paris looking “impossibly fresh”? YUP!) for me.

I absolutely love the spirit of Domino Dollhouse. Owner Tracy Broxterman has created a unique online destination for plus size gals in search of the more exciting side of fashion. The pieces she selects are always fun, quirky, bright and fill a void that plus size retailers have often ignored. Also a style blogger, Tracy has extended her editorial sensibilities into Domino Dollhouse, not only by curating distinct collections, but also by creating a coordinating lookbook with each collection.
For spring, Domino Dollhouse is putting a spotlight on all the bad girls with the Rebel Rebel collection. The Domino Dollhouse rebel loves polka dots, cropped jackets, sheer fabrics and full skirts. View the full lookbook below and part one of the collection was just released. Do any of the looks in Rebel Rebel appeal to you?
